Near Parma, the forgotten parking lot becomes a charging station for electric trucks

Ewiva has launched a new charging station in Noceto, in the province of Parma, specifically aimed at heavy electric mobility. This is the second installation in the network designed for e-trucks after the one already operational in Piacenza, and it confirms the company's focus on Emilia-Romagna, an area that the operator identifies as a significant logistics hub for connections between Northern and Southern Italy.

The station is located on Via dei Bersaglieri, in the Pontetaro area, and was created in collaboration with the municipal administration of Noceto. From an infrastructure perspective, the site offers a total of eight charging points, divided into two categories: four ultra-fast stations of 400 kW reserved for heavy electric vehicles, and four points of 300 kW each, suitable for light electric vehicles.

The physical configuration of the area follows the typical needs of road transport with articulated vehicles: the layout is drive-through, meaning it lacks reverse maneuvers, with enlarged parking spaces (up to 20x4 meters) and separate entry and exit routes. This setup, along with dedicated signage, aims to reduce maneuvering times and make it easier for articulated vehicles to park during charging.

The station's location, close to the Parma Ovest motorway exit on the A15, is another strategic element highlighted by the company, as it intercepts heavy traffic flows along one of the north-south routes of the Italian motorway network. The operation stemmed from an agreement between Ewiva and the Municipality of Noceto, which granted a surface right to a municipal area previously used as a low-traffic parking lot. Mayor Fabio Fecci explained that the agreement guarantees the administration a concession fee and allowed the transformation of the space into an infrastructure that the mayor describes as nationally significant, while still keeping 20 parking spaces available for ordinary parking.

Fecci also emphasized the proximity to the motorway exit as a determining factor in the site selection, placing Noceto among the first Italian municipalities, second in the region only to Piacenza, to host an infrastructure entirely dedicated to e-truck charging. With the activation of the Noceto site, Ewiva has increased the number of ultra-fast charging stations in Emilia-Romagna to 53, two of which are specifically dedicated to heavy vehicles, totaling 206 charging points in the region.

At the national level, the company claims to have surpassed 1,800 installed charging points by July 2026, with power ranging from 100 kW to 400 kW, distributed across more than 500 stations throughout the territory, concentrated mainly along the major extra-urban and motorway arteries as well as in urban and suburban contexts.
