DENZA Z, the supercar with 3 electric motors delivering 1,604 HP and charging in 9 minutes

DENZA brings the Z to the Goodwood Festival of Speed with pure supercar numbers: 1,604 HP, 0-100 km/h in 1.96 seconds, and ultra-fast charging from 10% to 97% in just nine minutes. The new high-end electric vehicle from the BYD group arrives in four variants, let's explore them together.

Electric Supercar with Four Doors?

The Z is DENZA's first fully electric supercar and debuts in the speed temple of Goodwood, where the Coupé, Spider, Racing, and a Special Edition developed for the Nürburgring Nordschleife are confirmed. Under the bodywork works the proprietary e3 Sports Car Platform, featuring a three-motor architecture, Cell-to-Body integration, DiSus-M magnetorheological suspensions, and second-generation Blade Battery.

The standout figure is the combination of power and charging times: the Z reaches 1,604 HP and, with FLASH Charging, recovers from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes. For an electric sports car, the message is clear: track performance without the usual charging anxiety.

The range starts with the Coupé, rated at 2.25 seconds for 0-100 km/h and a top speed of 300 km/h, closely followed by the Spider and the Racing variant, which with semi-slick tires accelerates to 1.96 seconds on short sprints and touches 350 km/h. The Special Edition takes it a step further with power exceeding 2,000 HP and a 0-100 km/h in under 1.7 seconds.

DENZA also indicates a four-seat configuration, an unusual detail in this segment, along with a trunk capacity of 250 liters for the Coupé and Racing versions and 131-176 liters for the Spider. The wheelbase of 2,780 mm enables this solution, while the vehicle body remains compact: 4,780 mm for Coupé and Spider, 4,870 mm for Racing.

Aerodynamics and Track

The Racing variant introduces a more extreme package, featuring a carbon fiber splitter, vortex generators, and a rear wing adjustable to three positions. In this configuration, the length increases and downforce reaches up to 1,060 kg at 350 km/h, while cooling improvements enhance engine cooling by 50% and brakes by 32%.

The Special Edition raises the bar further: an active system to reduce aerodynamic drag, active front diffuser, and movable flaps on the rear wing cut drag by up to 40% and provide over 2,000 kg of downforce at 300 km/h. This configuration is aimed squarely at the Nürburgring, with a record attempt announced for the fall.

Cabin and Equipment

Inside, DENZA focuses on a design more aligned with motorsports than traditional luxury. The steering wheel integrates six physical buttons, including controls for Track and Boost modes, while the cabin blends carbon fiber, suede-like fabrics, and metallic finishes. The dashboard hosts an 8.88-inch instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch infotainment system, featuring wireless charging, Google Built-in, and a Devialet audio system.

Customization options are extensive: ten exterior colors, ten interior combinations, four colors for the brake calipers, and, on the Spider, dedicated options for the roof. Additionally, there are electric adjustable front seats, lumbar support, heating, ventilation, and massage functions, plus soft-close door mechanisms and remote access via the DENZA app.

Technical Architecture

The DENZA Z is based on the e3 Sports Car Platform, which integrates intelligent torque control for the three motors, Cell-to-Body 2.0 structure, DiSus-M suspensions, and FLASH Charging. The motion control system governs braking, suspension, and steering with response times of up to 10 milliseconds, while the Tyre Burst Control function intervenes in case of a puncture to stabilize the vehicle.

The battery is a 76 kWh Blade Battery LFP, with a claimed WLTP range of 410 km for the Coupé, 400 km for the Spider, and 380 km for the Racing. The CTB structure offers a torsional rigidity exceeding 40,000 Nm per degree, while the carbon-ceramic braking system promises durability of up to 300,000 km.

After Goodwood, the Z Special Edition will continue its development at Nürburgring, while the Coupé, Spider, and Racing will be orderable starting this summer, with first deliveries expected by the end of the year. For DENZA, this marks a debut that combines record numbers, track solutions, and a very clear recipe: to raise the bar for electric supercars without compromising on performance and charging.
