Microsoft Confirms New Fable Release for February 2027: A New (Dark and Gloomy) Trailer Unveiled
Fable, the new chapter of the historic RPG series, finally has a release date after a recent delay. Microsoft announced that the game will be available from February 23, 2027, while those who purchase the Premium Edition will have early access starting from February 18.
The announcement came during the Xbox Games Showcase, where new gameplay sequences were also shown. The title represents the first completely new episode in the series since Fable III in 2010 and marks a highly anticipated return for fans of the franchise.
According to what has been shown so far, the game aims to bring back the beloved elements of the original saga, such as the fantasy setting and typically British humor. The launch will occur simultaneously on Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5, confirming a multi-platform distribution.
Fable: The New Gameplay and Innovations Revealed by Microsoft
In an update published by Microsoft, part of the cast was also revealed, including Hayley Atwell in the role of the main antagonist, Isabel. This detail adds an important narrative element to the project, which focuses on a strong cinematic component.
The game's development is entrusted to Playground Games, a studio known for the Forza Horizon series. The project was first announced in 2020 as a new start for the franchise, with the first teaser arriving in 2023. Initially scheduled for 2025, the game has undergone several delays, moving to 2026 and finally to the current date in 2027.
The long development cycle highlights the complexity of the project, which aims to revive a series that has been inactive for many years. With this new release set, Microsoft aims to bring Fable back among the leading fantasy RPGs of the generation. Playground Games has also announced that a DLC for the same Fable will be coming. It is still unclear when this additional content will be released or what its price will be. The trailer shown during the Xbox Games Showcase did not seem to include it, making the announcement choice quite unusual. Additionally, an extensive deep dive into Fable's gameplay is set to be published for the public on Wednesday, June 10.
