Volvo and Tesla Supercharger, directly included in the Volvo Cars app by the end of the year

As we have known for some time now, many Tesla Superchargers, including in Italy, are open to non-Tesla electric vehicles, which can charge using the fact that Tesla uses the standard Combo CCS socket in Europe.

However, in most cases, users who own an electric car still have to go through the Tesla app to activate charging and make payments. For Volvo users, this is about to change.

This was revealed by Alejandro Castro Pérez, head of energy solutions at Volvo Cars, who explained how his company intends to include Superchargers in the proprietary Volvo Cars app by the end of the year.

This means that European owners of the Volvo EX30, EX40, EC40, EX60, EX90, and ES90 will be able to activate charging at a Tesla Supercharger just as they currently can for tens of thousands of fast charging stations from other operators.

They will no longer need to access the Tesla app, and therefore the payment for charging sessions will also be managed within the Volvo account. The addition of Tesla Superchargers is always good news for owners of other brands, as Elon Musk’s charging network is the most reliable, widespread, and has the highest number of available charging stations, not to mention that the cost of charging is often lower than that of the competition.

The complete list of countries involved includes: Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
