Intel Introduces New Faces: Two Appointments That Could Change the Future of PCs
Intel is strengthening its management structure with two strategic appointments aimed at consolidating the client business and accelerating the development of emerging technologies related to artificial intelligence and advanced computing. The company announced the entry of Alex Katouzian and the confirmation of Pushkar Ranade in key roles under the leadership of CEO Lip-Bu Tan.
Katouzian will join Intel as Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Client Computing and Physical AI Group. This is a strategic division that combines the traditional client PC business with new applications of distributed artificial intelligence (edge), including robotics, autonomous systems, and smart devices.

His main task will be to realign Intel's client offering towards scenarios where AI is no longer confined to the cloud or data center, but directly integrated into devices. This involves working on hardware architectures and software platforms capable of managing local AI inference, optimizing performance, consumption, and latency.
Katouzian brings with him consolidated experience gained at Qualcomm, where he led the development of mobile, compute, and XR (extended reality) platforms. His background is particularly relevant for Intel at a time when the boundaries between PCs, mobile devices, and embedded systems are increasingly blurred.
At the same time, Intel has officially announced the appointment of Ranade as Chief Technology Officer, a role he was already filling on an interim basis. The CTO position is central in a technology company: the CTO defines the overall technology strategy, coordinates research and development, and identifies medium- to long-term innovation directions.
In this specific case, Ranade will be responsible for the development and oversight of key areas such as quantum computing, neuromorphic computing, photonics, and new materials. These areas represent the foundations for future generations of semiconductors and computing systems, going beyond the incremental evolution of traditional architectures.
Ranade will also maintain the role of Chief of Staff to the CEO, an operational position that ensures alignment between technology strategy and business priorities, facilitating the execution of company-wide decisions.
Both appointments reflect a precise strategy: to push Intel towards a model in which artificial intelligence permeates every level of the offering, from PCs to edge devices to the most experimental technologies. On one hand, Katouzian will need to translate this vision into tangible products for the client market; on the other, Ranade will be tasked with building the technological foundations that will support future evolutions.
