Apple prepares the 'MacBook Neo 2' with a new chip and more RAM

Apple is reportedly working on the second generation of the MacBook Neo, a notebook set to receive two significant hardware updates according to the latest rumors. The information, reported by journalist Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, indicates that the device will be part of a broad renewal plan for the Mac range, which would include eleven new models.

The main updates are expected to relate to the processor and memory. The future MacBook Neo should indeed be equipped with the new A19 Pro chip, which will replace the current A18 Pro found in the model currently on the market. At the same time, Apple would increase the unified memory capacity to 12 GB of RAM, compared to the 8 GB available on the current version. Besides internal changes, the notebook may also be offered in new colors.

The report does not specify what the new finishes will be, merely noting that the current model is available in the variants Silver, Blush, Citrus, and Indigo. Regarding the launch, no specific date has been indicated. However, considering that the first-generation MacBook Neo was introduced in March of this year, the most likely timeframe for the new model seems to be the first half of next year.

What will be the future price of the MacBook Neo 2? The MacBook Neo was initially introduced in the United States with a starting price of $599, a figure that drew attention for its high competitiveness against other Apple notebooks. Last month, however, the list price was increased to $699.

Despite the price hike, the computer remains the most affordable laptop in the entire Apple range. There are still some exceptions: college students and users who meet the required criteria can still purchase it starting at $599 through the Apple Education Store, while certified refurbished models are also available at lower prices.

Apple had previously stated that the MacBook Neo had seen particularly high demand. It remains to be seen whether the price increase will affect sales in the coming months. Further indications may emerge with the publication of the company's next financial results, scheduled for July 30, when Apple will provide an update on its business performance.
