Signal Ring is a new smart ring that promises to measure blood pressure without calibration
The startup Vital Signals has announced Signal Ring, a new intelligent ring designed to monitor blood pressure by offering direct measurement values, without requiring periodic calibration through a traditional arm monitor. The company claims that this technology represents a significant advancement compared to many solutions currently available on the market.
Hypertension is often referred to as a "silent killer" because it can cause damage to the heart, brain, and arteries without showing obvious symptoms. In many cases, the condition is only discovered after severe events such as heart attacks or strokes. Hypotension can also pose risks, but high blood pressure is generally considered the more dangerous condition. For this reason, constant monitoring of blood pressure values assumes particular importance, especially in older individuals or those deemed at risk.
With the arrival of watchOS 26, five models of Apple Watch can monitor blood pressure. These include Apple Watch Series 9, Series 10, Series 11, Ultra 2, and Ultra 3. However, these devices do not display actual pressure readings, only signaling possible indications compatible with hypertension. A similar approach is adopted by other wearable devices like Oura Ring.
There's a new smart ring: the Signal Ring, and its focus is entirely on taking your blood pressure and giving you actual systolic and diastolic readings, which makes it different from Apple and Oura. @chriswelch takes a deep look. https://t.co/LiqWm28On4 -- Mark Gurman (@markgurman) July 16, 2026
The price and philosophy behind Signal Ring There are already products capable of providing complete blood pressure measurements, but they require periodic calibration using a classic cuff monitor. Instead, Vital Signals asserts that Signal Ring completely eliminates this necessity.
The founder and CEO Tom Moss recounts that he decided to create the company after risking his life due to undiagnosed hypertension. According to Moss, consumers today have few truly practical solutions for accurately knowing their blood pressure values.
Signal Ring will be available for pre-order at a price of $399, with deliveries expected in October. The dedicated application will display real-time measurements as well as historical data collected, without requiring any subscription. The company further specifies that the device is primarily designed for older individuals or patients at high risk of developing hypertension.
