realme abandons its UI: the brand will switch to ColorOS by the end of 2026

realme puts its proprietary interface on the shelf. Chase Xu, Vice President of the company, shared an open letter on his X profile announcing that realme UI will gradually make way for the latest version of ColorOS, the system developed by Oppo.

The transition will not be immediate. realme mentions a global rollout starting by the end of this year, aiming to provide a smoother software experience thanks to an optimized system and AI-based features.

The company assures that the distinctive elements of its design and the features that have made the brand recognizable will not be removed in the transition to ColorOS. The transition, it is stated, aims to preserve the visual and functional identity that has characterized realme UI so far.

Xu does not currently provide a precise timeline or a list of the models involved: the roadmap for updates and the list of eligible devices will be announced later. Those who own a device that will be excluded from the migration program to ColorOS will not be abandoned, as realme guarantees continued software maintenance and support for these models.

In the letter, the executive reiterates the brand's intention to continue targeting a young audience with competitive technological solutions and specifically highlights the Italian market as strategic for the company's future investments.

Below is the full text of the statement shared by Chase Xu:

"In the future, realme UI will gradually switch to the latest version of ColorOS, with the global rollout expected by the end of this year. The update will offer users a smoother and smarter software experience, thanks to optimized system performance and advanced AI functionalities.

The distinctive features of realme and the design elements that characterize the brand will be preserved during the transition, thus maintaining a unique and differentiated user experience.

A detailed roadmap of the updates and the list of eligible devices will be announced in due course. Devices that do not fall within the ColorOS update program will still receive ongoing software maintenance and support.

realme remains committed to providing innovative and cutting-edge technological experiences to young users around the world. Thank you for the trust and support you continue to show us. Italy remains a strategic market for realme and the company will continue its investments in the country to offer increasingly innovative and technologically advanced user experiences."
