WhatsApp is working to introduce a new widget for voice messages on Android

WhatsApp continues to work on a new widget for voice messages destined for Android devices. The feature, still in development, is receiving several improvements and now displays a more comprehensive recording screen with new commands that will allow users to better manage the creation of audio messages.

The widget will be designed to allow faster recording directly from the home screen of the smartphone, without having to necessarily open a specific conversation. After adding the link to the Home screen, the user will be able to tap it to start recording a voice message.

The new recording interface will include some tools dedicated to audio management before sending. It will be possible to temporarily pause the recording and resume it later, offering greater flexibility during message creation. Users will also be able to delete the recording if they decide not to send it.

How the new WhatsApp voice message widget will work

Once the recording is finished, the system will allow users to confirm the message and proceed to select the recipients. WhatsApp will open a screen to select the contacts to whom to send the voice note. An important feature will be the ability to choose multiple people simultaneously, allowing users to distribute the same audio message to different recipients in a single operation. This feature could be particularly useful for those who frequently send the same voice content to multiple people.

Currently, to share an audio message with several contacts, it is necessary to record it in a chat, send it to one recipient, and then manually forward it to others. The new widget is expected to simplify this process by allowing a single recording and a single multiple selection of contacts.

The link will not be mandatory, however. WhatsApp is expected to make it available as an optional standard Android widget, which each user can manually add to their main screen. Those who prefer to continue recording voice messages directly from the app can ignore this new option without changing their usage method. According to reports, the widget was spotted during the analysis of the Android beta version 2.26.28.2 available on the Google Play Store. However, the feature has not yet been rolled out to beta program participants.
