X Introduces New Video Features with Revamped Editor, Green Screen Effects, and Support for Multi-Language Content

X has introduced a new update aimed at content creation video in the iOS version of its application. The social network has released a new interface for the video editor and recorder, adding several tools designed to simplify content production directly from the platform.

Among the main innovations introduced are the ability to record using a green background, known as green screen, and support for subtitles in multiple languages. The new features are integrated within an overlay interface designed to provide users with greater capabilities during both the acquisition and editing phases of video footage.

According to Nikita Bier, product manager at X, improving the tools available for creators is one of the company's priorities. The stated goal is to provide users with more effective tools for creating original content and further encourage video publishing on the platform. Bier also hinted that further updates dedicated to the video editor will be arriving in the coming months.

X Aims for Increased Publication of Audiovisual Content

In recent years, X has repeatedly tried to increase the prominence of video content within the service. Among the initiatives experimented with by the company have been tests to introduce a dedicated video section in the bottom bar of the application and agreements to host original content.

In 2024, then-CEO Linda Yaccarino described X as a platform primarily focused on video, highlighting the growth of views for videos within the social network. However, despite this strategy, X has yet to reach the level of its main competitors in the online video sector.

The platform remains distant from services like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube in terms of usage and distribution of video content. In the past, Elon Musk had pointed to YouTube as one of the targets to challenge, but the competition remains complex. The new editor could represent a concrete attempt to alter this situation. By making the creation and publication of videos more immediate, X hopes to better engage users.
