PS Plus Price Increases Could Become More Frequent: Sony Aims to Boost Profits

With the debut of the PS6 still far off, primarily due to the memory crisis, Sony finds itself in a reorganization phase with the need to define new strategies for the future. Besides the decision to say goodbye to physical games, the Japanese company is looking to the future and, to increase profits, may increasingly focus on PS Plus subscriptions.

The service could become a central element for the future of Sony's gaming division, progressively increasing profits through a growing number of subscribed users and, at the same time, by raising subscription costs. Here are the details regarding this.

Will Price Hikes Become More Frequent?

For now, Sony has not announced any increases for its subscriptions, but during a meeting attended by several managers from the Interactive Entertainment division, it clarified the importance of PS Plus, which today represents a central element for profits, especially considering that over 40% of subscribers choose the highest tier of the subscription.

For the future, the company has confirmed its intention to "constantly balance" the value of the service in relation to cost. While this is not a direct confirmation, it is clear that the intention to further increase the price, particularly to support profits, is part of Sony's future strategies. The situation will need to be monitored closely. In fact, Sony could raise the price of PS Plus in the coming years, even before the launch of the PS6.
