Goodbye to OnePlus's OxygenOS and Realme UI: Will OPPO Focus on a Unified Software Platform?

The reorganization program at OPPO continues. The next step could be the farewell to OxygenOS and Realme UI, the operating system customizations for OnePlus and Realme smartphones, respectively. Both brands are directly controlled by OPPO, which could aim for a unified platform (the current ColorOS). This new strategy could become effective in the coming months when the development of OxygenOS and Realme UI is expected to cease.

Goodbye to OnePlus and Realme Customizations

The matter is particularly delicate as it is linked to rumors about the scaling back of OnePlus, which has become increasingly evident in Europe. The brand has not launched new products for several months and has even started to suggest the purchase of OPPO products on the official site of its German division. To cut costs, according to new rumors, OPPO is ready to sacrifice the customizations of OnePlus and Realme, maximizing investments in a unified platform that will be used by products from all three brands.

For the moment, there are still no official confirmations. OPPO has never confirmed rumors regarding the scaling back of OnePlus and Realme. However, this scenario seems increasingly likely for the future. The Chinese company will continue to operate in the market with a three-brand strategy (with the risk that in Europe it might become two, due to the possible exit of OnePlus). For all products, however, there will be a single software, following the example of what Xiaomi does with HyperOS. We will learn more in the coming weeks.
