At Auction from Sotheby's: Jensen Huang's Leather Jacket Estimated Up to $60,000
Collecting and hardware enthusiasts, unite! Starting from July 7, the auction house Sotheby's will open bids to acquire a black leather jacket once owned by Jensen Huang. The jacket, designed by Tom Ford, has an estimated value between $40,000 and $60,000, a figure comparable to some of the most sought-after AI chips produced by NVIDIA itself, particularly the Blackwell family solutions.
According to the auction house, the piece will be displayed in New York until July 16, while bidding will close on July 17. This operation was organized in collaboration with venture capital fund Long Journey and has charitable purposes: the proceeds will be directed to the nonprofit The Edge Institute, aiming to finance scholarships, fellowships, and residency programs for new talents in the technology sector.
The jacket has undergone authentication and verification procedures, including photo-matching conducted by Professional Sports Authenticator, which confirmed its presence at public events, including the Hon Hai Tech Day in Taipei in October 2023. The CEO's signature has also been verified by James Spence Authentication.
Jensen Huang's unmistakable look used to sell fake leather jackets In recent years, Huang's figure has taken on an increasingly iconic dimension in the technology sector, thanks to a recognizable aesthetic based on his black leather jacket, which has become a recurring element during keynotes, product presentations, and official trips to strategic markets.
This phenomenon echoes dynamics already observed in the consumer technology world, where figures like Steve Jobs transformed clothing items into identity symbols for their brands. In this case, however, the context is that of AI computing and the global race for accelerated computing power.
