LEGO Did It Again! Here Are the 22 Drivable F1 Mini Cars Ready for the British Grand Prix
The LEGO Group and Formula 1 presented today at Silverstone 22 fully drivable mini cars, one for each of the drivers currently registered for the World Championship. On Sunday, the cars will take to the track for the traditional Driver Parade that precedes the Pirelli British Grand Prix. The main novelty concerns the setup of the parade: for the first time, each driver will drive their own racing car, built with over 28,000 LEGO bricks and capable of reaching speeds of 25 km/h.
The initiative comes a year after the Driver Parade at the Miami Grand Prix, when ten large LEGO cars, inspired by the LEGO F1 Collection Speed Champions line, completed a lap amidst chaos and general hilarity with the drivers at the wheel. That debut convinced both teams and fans to request something more structured for the next edition.
The mini cars at Silverstone indeed respond to that request and raise the level of detail: each model replicates the 2026 livery of its respective team, complete with emblems, color palettes, and driver numbers, while still maintaining the characteristic aesthetics of LEGO bricks.
A 2.0 version designed for the Silverstone parade Julia Goldin, Chief Product & Marketing Officer of the LEGO Group, explained that listening to the community was crucial: after the Miami 2025 Parade, it became clear that both enthusiasts and drivers wanted a more ambitious format, leading to the decision to propose a renewed version with more engagement and spectacle on the track.
On the Formula 1 side, Emily Prazer, Chief Commercial Officer of the championship, described last year’s parade as one of the most creative activations ever realized on the track, able to capture the attention of billions of viewers worldwide. For this edition in Silverstone, the request made to LEGO was to push beyond the boundaries already explored, a goal that, according to Prazer, has been fully achieved.
Behind the 22 mini cars is the work of a team of 20 designers, engineers, and builders from the LEGO Group, who dedicated a total of 6,400 hours at the Kladno facility in the Czech Republic. Each car weighs about 280 kg, of which 65 kg consists of bricks alone, and is equipped with standard go-kart wheels to ensure smooth running on the track.
The event fits into a broader collaboration path between the LEGO Group and Formula 1, which in 2025 has already led to LEGO trophies for the British Grand Prix, the parade of the 1950 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special LEGO in Las Vegas, and, indeed, the first Driver Parade in Miami. The live broadcast of the Silverstone track lap will be available on the official Formula 1 YouTube channel, while all details about the partnership and the product range can be found at LEGO.com/F1.
