Intel Raises Recommended Prices for Core Ultra 200S Plus
Intel has quietly updated the recommended customer prices (RCP) for its latest desktop processors, known as the Core Ultra 200S Plus series or "Arrow Lake Refresh." The change, spotted by user X harukaze5719 on the official Intel ARK pages, affects the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus and the Core Ultra 5 250K Plus, both of which are now listed with higher price ranges compared to those announced at launch.
According to reports, the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus is now priced between $339 and $349, while the Core Ultra 5 250K Plus falls between $219 and $229. These figures are significantly higher than the suggested prices announced by Intel during the March presentation, when the two models were indicated starting at $299 and $199, respectively.
The magnitude of the increase is considerable: for the higher-end model, there is a $50 increase compared to the launch price, while the lower-end model sees a $30 difference. However, currently, the retail market prices do not fully reflect this update. For example, on Amazon US, the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus is still listed at $319.99, which is below the new maximum of the recommended range. A similar situation exists for the Core Ultra 5 250K Plus, available for $219.99.
Historical data from the last 30 days shows that the price of the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus on Amazon US has fluctuated between a low of $264.99 and a high of $319.99. As of today, the current price is $309.99, about $47 below the current list price. It's also worth noting that just last week, the chip was offered at a special price of $265 during Prime Day, a figure well below both the old and the new recommended price.
However, it should be emphasized that the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus has never stabilized near the launch price of $299 after its market debut: the processor has mostly been sold at prices higher than the original MSRP, albeit with some temporary discounts.
The situation is similar when looking at our country. However, the story is different for the Core Ultra 5 250K Plus, which appears less affected by the price increase dynamics in the retail channel: Amazon US has consistently offered it at $219.99 since launch, a price that already coincides with the new range communicated by Intel. This suggests that, at least for this model, the official update of the recommended prices may merely certify a market behavior that is already in place.
