Fiat Unveils Multiplina Concept: The Electric Heir to the Historic Multipla Will Arrive in 2028
Fiat has presented a new strategy dedicated to electric micromobility in Rome, outlining a project aimed at building a complete ecosystem for urban mobility of people and goods. At the heart of the initiative are the already known Fiat Topolino, the electric commercial vehicle Fiat Tris, and the new Multiplina Concept, meant to anticipate the next evolution of the lineup.
The Topolino continues to represent the brand’s benchmark offering. According to Fiat, by 2025, the small electric quadricycle was the best-selling model in Europe in the light electric vehicle segment. The company also predicts that the second quarter of 2026 will see a new record of orders, with a growth of about 30% compared to the same period last year.
To expand the offering, Fiat will introduce new aesthetic variants of the Topolino, including the Coral, Dolcevita, and Sport versions, along with a Collector's Edition developed in collaboration with the Vilebrequin brand. The Fiat Tris also enters a new phase of its development. Initially conceived as a zero-emissions solution for last-mile deliveries and aimed at African and Middle Eastern markets, the three-wheeled vehicle will be adapted for new uses in the leisure and hospitality sector thanks to the Dolcevita concept.
Fiat has announced new collaborations and looks to the future. In parallel, Fiat announced a collaboration with Caffè Vergnano to develop mobile sales points dedicated to coffee using the Tris platform. The goal is to demonstrate the versatility of the vehicle in itinerant commercial activities and catering services. The focus is also on the future with the Multiplina Concept, a modern reinterpretation of the historic Fiat 600 Multipla. The prototype is designed to occupy the space between the Topolino and a traditional car.
According to current plans, the production model will arrive in 2028 as a light electric vehicle belonging to the L7e category, featuring four seats and larger dimensions compared to the Topolino, offering greater habitability and comfort. Through these three models, Fiat expands its presence in the light electric vehicle sector, covering different needs ranging from urban personal mobility to commercial transport and future family travels.
Fiat's CEO, Olivier François, defined micromobility as one of the fundamental elements of the brand's future strategy, emphasizing how Topolino, Tris, and Multiplina represent the foundations for building an ecosystem dedicated to the cities of tomorrow.
