GTA 6 at 60 FPS on Consoles: Details on PS5 and Xbox Graphics Modes Surface
GTA 6 is undoubtedly the most anticipated game of the year. Rockstar Games' blockbuster will initially debut exclusively on consoles, arriving on PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. As for the PC version, which historically aims to maximize the game's technical potential without the constraints of console hardware, patience is required: the release is expected only at a later date, most likely in 2027.
While the title is already available for pre-order, a new and interesting leak reveals Rockstar's plans regarding graphical performance and the highly sought-after game fluidity.
60 FPS on PS5 Pro and Flagship Consoles
According to the latest rumors, Rockstar Games is focusing its efforts to ensure 60 FPS on the new PS5 Pro through a dedicated "Performance Mode," designed to take advantage of the greater power of Sony's mid-gen console. However, the real surprise concerns the standard PS5 and Xbox Series X. Developers are reportedly working to implement 60 FPS on these two flagship consoles of the early generation as well. To achieve this goal, users may have to make some inevitable compromises on resolution and overall visual quality. Moreover, the leak warns that this mode may not be available on Day One but could arrive through a post-launch patch.
The Fate of Xbox Series S and the 30 FPS Fidelity Mode
A different scenario applies to Xbox Series S. Due to the known hardware limitations of Microsoft's smaller console, the chances of seeing stable 60 FPS are described as "remote." However, it is not ruled out that Rockstar may still release an optimized mode to push the maximum framerate allowed by the components.
For all platforms, the classic 30 FPS mode will still be confirmed. This mode will focus on maximum visual fidelity and promises to deliver an astonishing next-generation graphical impact, with the PS5 Pro version benefiting from the most advanced visual effects.
