General Fusion Focuses on Italy: The Dream of Nearly Endless Energy Takes Another Step
Italy
Italy officially enters the international expansion strategy of General Fusion, a Canadian company engaged in the development of nuclear fusion technologies. The company announced the signing of a framework agreement with Renexia, a company of the Toto Group specialized in energy infrastructure and the development of renewable projects, with the objective of assessing the future establishment of one or more commercial plants based on Magnetized Target Fusion (MTF) technology.
The agreement does not represent a green light for the construction of a power plant, but rather defines a collaboration articulated in several phases, subject to the achievement of specific technical and commercial goals. Activities will include site selection, feasibility studies, identification of market opportunities, agreements for the sale of produced energy, permits, and only at a later stage, the potential design and construction of the plants.
According to the companies, the first activities related to site evaluation will start immediately, while further work in the initial phase is scheduled for 2026, depending on the definition of subsequent operational agreements.
