YouTube Revamps Shorts with New Features: X2 Playback and Clear Screen Arrive
YouTube continues to evolve its platform dedicated to short videos by announcing a series of changes aimed at making Shorts easier to use and more customizable. Among the most significant updates is the introduction of double speed playback, a feature that will allow users to watch content in half the time. According to Google, this option is designed to help users absorb information more quickly or easily reach their favorite moment in a video. This way, even already short content can be viewed even faster.
The company has also decided to remove the dedicated 'Dislike' button within Shorts. Instead, two tools already known by users will be available: 'Not Interested' and 'Do Not Recommend This Channel', which will still allow users to influence content suggestions without resorting to the traditional dislike.
Additional Details on Upcoming Changes for YouTube Shorts
The system for positive reactions also receives an update. The classic thumbs up is replaced with a heart-shaped emoji, a choice aimed at making interaction with creators more immediate and visually recognizable. Among the new features, there is also a mode called Clear Screen, designed to offer a cleaner viewing experience of videos. When activated, all icons and text present during playback are temporarily hidden, allowing viewers to focus solely on the content without distracting graphical elements.
Google explains that all these changes aim to make the Shorts user experience more intuitive. However, a precise date for the availability of the new features has not yet been communicated. The company has only confirmed that the release will occur gradually. Although it entered the short video market after competitors like TikTok and Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts has managed to capture a very broad audience.
