Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Could Be One of Ubisoft's Most Ambitious Projects: 15 Studios Involved

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is preparing to return with a project that, according to some rumors, would have required a large investment from Ubisoft. The remake of the chapter dedicated to pirates would not just be an improved version of the original but a broader reconstruction with numerous updated elements.

According to information reported by insider Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming, the development involved as many as 15 Ubisoft studios. The project would be led by Ubisoft Singapore, a team already known for its work related to the naval elements of the series, while other international studios would have contributed to the game's realization.

The listed teams would include those from Barcelona, Belgrade, Bordeaux, Bucharest, Chengdu, Da Nang, India, Montpellier, Philippines, Kyiv, Montreal, Shanghai, Sofia, and Quebec. Therefore, the total number of studios involved would be the same as that recorded for Assassin's Creed Shadows, a fact that the source claims represents a common production scale for major Ubisoft titles.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced: Release Date Approaching

The remake of Black Flag is expected to stand out from the original game thanks to the use of the latest version of the Anvil Engine, the graphics engine used by the company. In addition to visual upgrades, the project would include new missions, additional settings, new characters, and content designed for the final phase of the experience.

This amount of changes suggests an approach closer to a new chapter in the series rather than a simple remastering operation. Even the naval combat system, one of the most appreciated aspects of the original title, would have received significant changes and enhancements.

However, the development path comes during a period of internal transformations for Ubisoft. Some organizational changes have led to the closure of the Belgrade studio and personnel reductions at the Barcelona headquarters, two entities identified as being involved in the project. Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is scheduled for release on July 9 for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
