Lenovo ThinkTab X11: the waterproof tablet with a removable battery
Lenovo has recently launched the ThinkTab X11, an Android tablet designed for business environments and therefore equipped with features rarely available in the world of tablets for private users. The device represents an interesting example of what is technically possible, starting from its water resistance coupled with a removable battery.
Lenovo ThinkTab X11, the versatile Android tablet for business and industry
The ThinkTab X11 is a very unique Android 16 tablet, particularly regarding its intended use: Lenovo designed it as a shock and drop-resistant tablet, making it suitable for a wide variety of use cases such as logistics, production facilities, construction, rescue vehicles, as well as a tablet for managing transactions in stores and other sales activities. It is MIL-STD-810H and IP68 certified, meaning it is dust-resistant and waterproof.
What’s particularly interesting is that these features are paired with a 10,200 mAh removable battery that can be replaced by the user “hot,” meaning without the need for specialized tools. The ThinkTab X11 is also equipped with two USB-C ports: one on the right side, which is USB 3.2 and supports video output, and a second on the bottom, which is USB 2.0 and supports only charging; it’s worth noting that both ports support USB PD 3.0 standard. This allows the tablet to be mounted on a stand inside a vehicle, for example, minimizing cable clutter. It’s also possible to use it without the battery installed if necessary.
The ThinkTab X11 features a 10.95-inch display with a resolution of 2560x1600 and a brightness of 600 nits, protected by Gorilla Glass and capable of registering touch even when wearing gloves. Inside, we find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor, along with 8 GB of RAM and either 128 or 256 GB of storage, or 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of space. On the back, there's a 13-megapixel camera and on the front, an 8-megapixel camera.
Connectivity is provided by WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4, along with 5G connectivity via integrated nano SIM and eSIM. Notably, there’s an NFC chip located on the front side: this makes it possible to use the ThinkTab X11 to receive payments, for example.
There is an active pen that can be stored inside the tablet itself and is also IP68 certified; in addition to allowing for note-taking on the tablet, it lets users sign receipts or transactions more naturally compared to standard interactions where one must sign with a finger.
Lastly, on the security front, it features a fingerprint reader and the ability to unlock the device with facial recognition; the device is also Google Android Enterprise Recommended certified, meaning it can be centrally managed.
