Toyota Unveils Its First Electric Pickup: Official Prices, Range, Performance, and Hilux BEV Debut

Toyota has finally revealed the prices of its first fully electric pickup, the Hilux BEV, marking an important milestone for one of the most well-known models of the Japanese automaker. With over 27 million units sold in nearly seventy years of history, Hilux represents one of the brand's most significant vehicles and now enters the era of electric mobility with a new battery-powered generation.

The new Hilux BEV is Toyota's first electric pickup and the first model from the company with a body-on-frame structure powered exclusively by electricity. The design has been updated with a style defined by the company as "Tough and Agile," characterized by new slim LED headlights connected by a light bar and the Toyota lettering at the front in place of the traditional logo.

The model is offered with a Double Cab body and a permanent four-wheel drive system. The powertrain, made up of two electric motors, develops a total power of 278 horsepower and a torque of 473 Nm, allowing a towing capacity of over 1,700 kg. The presence of reinforced components and specific protections makes the vehicle suitable for off-road driving as well.

Additional Technical Details on the New Toyota Pickup and Its Price

To tackle different types of terrain, Toyota has introduced for the first time in one of its electric vehicles the Multi-Terrain Select system, which uses different driving modes to adapt the vehicle's behavior to environmental conditions. The fording depth reaches 700 mm, while the ground clearance is 212 mm due to the position of the battery under the platform.

The Hilux BEV uses a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack of 59.2 kWh. The declared range reaches up to 257 km according to the WLTP cycle, while in urban use it can reach about 380 km. Thanks to fast charging in direct current of up to 125 kW, the vehicle can go from 10% to 80% battery in about half an hour.

The interior features elements from the latest Toyota models, with two 12.3-inch screens dedicated to infotainment and instrumentation. It also includes third-generation Toyota T-Mate safety technologies, with systems such as blind spot monitoring, safe exit assistance, and lane keeping.

The price varies depending on the market: in the UK, it starts at around £42,170, while in France, the list price exceeds €57,000 excluding VAT. Toyota is progressively expanding availability in Europe.
