Capcom Doesn't Stop: One Resident Evil a Year and Increasingly Ambitious Plans

The Japanese video game giant Capcom intends to continue its extraordinary streak of commercial successes linked to the Resident Evil brand with significant news coming in the next few years. At the center of attention is the highly anticipated Resident Evil Veronica, which is scheduled to launch in the first half of 2027.

The title will debut on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the new Nintendo Switch 2 platform. However, experts are also focusing on other chapters of the saga that are currently in various stages of production.

According to revelations from the well-known insider AestheticGamer, better known as Dusk Golem, the alleged remake of Resident Evil Zero has undergone a deep internal restructuring. Although initial rumors indicated 2028 as a possible release year, current plans may have changed due to a complete reset of the development halfway through the process.

Word in the grapevine is RE9 DLC is releasing after Resident Evil Veronica. To see how it plays out, but it's been murmured to be further out.

Additional details about the development of Resident Evil Zero Remake indicate that the project management has indeed been shifted from the team that previously handled the remake of Resident Evil 3 to Capcom Division 1, the same leading division that has signed every single main chapter of the series from 2017 to today and is simultaneously working on Veronica. The reasons for this change are not known, but it is likely that the company's executives preferred to rely on a team capable of ensuring a steady stream of commercial successes.

At the same time, details are emerging about the expansion of the plot of Resident Evil Requiem, officially announced last March. Many observers thought it logical to release it prior to Veronica, but commercial plans seem reversed. Rumors suggest that the additional content will see the light only at a later time, with timelines expected to be rather extended.

This new narrative piece is expected to focus on the events of protagonist Leon S. Kennedy and will mark the return of the character Ada Wong, whose figure exited the scene after the events narrated in the remake of the fourth chapter of the saga. Despite these variations, Capcom's strategy of releasing one title a year linked to the horror franchise continues to prove successful.
