Bluesky will Grow Further: the Social Network Aims to Become an Alternative to Reddit

Bluesky aims to expand its reach. Among the upcoming innovations, there are communities that will allow the social network to become an alternative to Reddit. The confirmation came from Alex Benzer, the product manager of Bluesky, who outlined the project, still under development.

An Ever-Richer Social Network

Each community will have an identifier that will also be used as a reference URL, for example, community-name.bsky.social or community-name.bsky.space/. The URL will include a customized landing page, and various functionalities can be added, leveraging the tools provided by the social network.

Community posts may appear in the Discover feed or in a dedicated feed, should Bluesky decide to create one to highlight new communities. This new feature is still under development, so we will have to wait for the coming weeks to learn more.

Communities can be used in various ways to create groups of users discussing specific topics and themes, encouraging the use of the platform.

In any case, the operation should be very similar to that of Reddit, creating a "familiar" environment for users and enriching the functionalities of the social network, which already represents an alternative to X for web users. All details will be progressively released over the coming months. Bluesky aims to launch the new feature in the near future, generally by the end of 2026.
