Resident Evil Veronica Copies Resident Evil 2 Remake, at Least in Third-Person Perspective

Resident Evil Veronica is one of the most discussed protagonists of the recent Summer Game Fest, where Capcom finally showcased the remake of one of the most requested chapters by fans of the famous horror saga. Although the presentation video left many questions unanswered, new statements from the developers have helped clarify some fundamental aspects of the gaming experience.

In a post-presentation interview, producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi confirmed that the remake will use a third-person perspective. This choice follows the direction taken by the modern remakes of the series and aims to maintain the formula that contributed to the success of Resident Evil 2 Remake.

The producer's words leave little doubt about the approach taken by Capcom. According to Hirabayashi, the new project will offer sensations and mechanics very close to those experienced in the remake of Resident Evil 2. This is an important confirmation for all those who feared a radical change after observing some sequences of the trailer.

Resident Evil Veronica: Third-Person Perspective and Additional Details

The presence of first-person shots in the video had indeed generated speculation among fans, leading to thoughts of a possible system similar to that planned by other recent chapters of the series. However, the information shared by the developers indicates that the main camera will remain positioned behind the protagonist.

This does not completely rule out the possibility of brief moments in first-person perspective. An example could be represented by certain introductory or narrative sequences, as occurred in Resident Evil 3 Remake, where the protagonist Jill explored her apartment in first-person before Nemesis arrived. However, it will not be possible to switch freely from one perspective to the other during the adventure.

For now, Capcom has not yet announced a precise release date. Resident Evil Veronica is currently expected in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Some observers speculate that the title might fall among the projects not yet officially announced by the company for the current fiscal year.

The anticipation remains high, but the latest information seems to confirm Capcom's intent to respect the original game's identity.
