iPhone 18: More RAM to Fully Leverage AI? Possible, but the Price Might Increase

The new AI features of iOS 27 will be usable by all the latest models in the iPhone range, but to fully utilize the capabilities of Apple Intelligence, a device with at least 12 GB of RAM will be necessary, such as the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max or the unfortunate iPhone Air. For this reason, the upcoming iPhone 18 could present a significant advantage over the current bestseller, the iPhone 17.

Will iPhone 18 Have 12 GB of RAM?

Among the new features of the next iPhone 18, which will debut in the market during the first months of the upcoming year, there might also be an upgrade to the RAM with a possible increase to 12 GB, compared to the current 8 GB of RAM offered by the iPhone 17.

This is a possible scenario, as confirmed by some rumors circulating lately, but it is not guaranteed. Apple will indeed have to deal with the rising cost of memory, and a smartphone like the iPhone 18 has significantly lower margins compared to the Pro models. Consequently, the switch from 8 to 12 GB of RAM could impact the final price.

We can speculate that the increase in RAM could significantly affect the pricing of the smartphone compared to the current price of the iPhone 17. The situation will need to be monitored over the coming weeks, also in relation to the ongoing memory crisis. As previously mentioned, however, Apple has plenty of time to figure out the right strategy. The company will launch its iPhone 18 only during the first months of 2027, while the Pro models will arrive next September.
