BOOX Go 6 Gen II Official: Now You Can Write on a 6-Inch Display
BOOX has officially announced the debut of the new BOOX Go 6 (Gen II), a direct evolution of its 6-inch pocket ePaper device. The manufacturer has made a distinct shift in design, departing from classic lines in favor of an aesthetic reminiscent of traditional travel trunks. The back casing showcases a series of tactile grooves designed to enhance grip and ensure a secure hold when using the device on the go, for example, on public transport or trains. The dimensions remain extremely optimized: we're talking about a profile just 6.8 millimeters thick and an overall weight of 160 grams, a value that allows you to slip the reader directly into your jacket pocket or small bags without noticing its presence. Customers can choose from four color variants named Plum, Stone, Shell, and Custard.
The display is a 6-inch HD ePaper unit with a resolution of 1448x1072 pixels and a density of 300 PPI, protected by a flat surface with anti-reflective glass. Reading management is entrusted to the adjustable front lighting system with CTM technology, which allows you to change the color temperature from warm to cool tones depending on ambient light. The native reading software, the usual NeoReader, manages interface customization, allowing you to change fonts, set margins, and activate dark mode.
Android 11 and the Debut of the InkSense Plus Stylus in 6-Inch Format
The real innovation of this second generation lies in the convergence of reading and writing in such a reduced form factor. The BOOX Go 6 (Gen II) integrates exclusive support for the InkSense Plus stylus, effectively transforming the eReader into a digital notebook for taking quick notes, highlighting text files, or drawing through the integrated Note application.
Beneath the casing runs unusual hardware for the category of simple digital readers. The device adopts a Qualcomm Octa-core platform at 2.0GHz, paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory, with the ability to expand storage space by inserting a card in the dedicated microSD slot. This configuration drives the Android 11 operating system, which includes native access to the Google Play Store. Users can then install third-party applications for reading, podcast clients, productivity software, or music streaming platforms.
The connectivity features include dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.0 for connecting headphones or accessories, and a USB-C port with OTG support for charging and data transfer. There are also integrated speakers and a microphone built into the frame. The battery has a capacity of 1500mAh. On the service front, BOOX guarantees all purchasers 10GB of free cloud space on Onyx servers for note backup and commits to providing at least three years of free software updates starting from the product launch date.
The BOOX Go 6 (Gen II) is already available for pre-order on the official brand website and will subsequently arrive on Amazon. The recommended retail price for the Italian market is 199.99 EUR.
