Marvel's Wolverine Will Not Be an Open World but Will Adopt a More Linear Style

Among the many new arrivals for the video game market, one of the most anticipated projects is, without a doubt, Marvel's Wolverine. The title is being developed by Insomniac Games and will feature one of the most iconic and beloved characters in the Marvel universe.

The goal is to replicate the success of the Marvel's Spider-Man games while adopting a more classic action gameplay style. This is a deliberate choice, in line with the characteristics of the protagonist. Here’s what the game developers stated during the recent State of Play by Sony.

It Will Not Be an Open World

During an interview, Mike Daly and Marcus Smith, respectively the director and creative director of the game, confirmed some aspects of the project. Marvel's Wolverine will be a linear action game and will not adopt open world mechanics. Players will be engaged in a "traditional" adventure based on multiple levels, thus featuring different environments but with limited exploration opportunities. The game will include alternative paths and secrets, enriching the gaming experience and increasing replayability.

Daly specifically emphasized: "I can say we didn't intend to create an open world game or a sandbox. What we really wanted was a linear, adrenaline-pumping single-player adventure full of intrigue, and the missions reflect this idea in their structure."

This choice, according to the developers, is also more in line with the character's traits, who, unlike Spider-Man, is not tied to a specific location. The groundwork for a successful adventure is all in place.

Let’s remember that in the past few days a trailer with many gameplay sequences of the game was released, which will be available on PS5 on September 15. The game is already available for pre-order on Amazon in physical version.
