Xiaomi Sticks to Its Guns: The Rear Display Will Return with the Xiaomi 18 Series and Will Be Larger
Xiaomi has no intention of changing its mind: the new Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max will indeed feature a display built into the rear casing. This element is central to the specifications of the Xiaomi 17 Pro and Pro Max, two models that the Chinese company has chosen not to release in Europe, where the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra are available, along with the recently launched Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro.
A Larger Display
According to a new leak, the new Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to have a larger rear display. Specifically for the 18 Pro, the size is expected to increase from 2.7 inches to about 4 inches. The panel is expected to feature curved edges and may also integrate a system similar to the Privacy Display launched by Samsung on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which various Chinese OEMs now want to incorporate into their products' specifications.
Currently, information about the new Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max is limited. The smartphones are expected to launch with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro SoC and various combinations of RAM and storage. Battery information has not yet been disclosed.
The wait for Xiaomi's new smartphones will not be long. The official debut of the Xiaomi 18 series is expected next month in September, at least for the Chinese market. In Europe, however, it will be necessary to wait until late 2026 or early 2027, with the Pro and Pro Max models possibly not making it to the market.
