Seven Years After the Announcement, The Wolf Among Us 2 Finally Has a Release Window
The Wolf Among Us 2
The Wolf Among Us 2 returns to the spotlight after years of uncertainty. During the Summer Game Fest, Telltale Games presented a new trailer for the sequel based on the narrative universe of Fables, confirming that the project is still in development and setting a release window for 2027.
The announcement represents an important milestone for a title that has gone through one of the most complex productions in recent years. The sequel to The Wolf Among Us, originally released in 2013 and considered one of the most acclaimed works of the historic American studio, was first announced in 2017. Initial plans called for a much closer release, but the closure of Telltale Games in 2018 inevitably halted development.
The company's revival under new ownership in 2019 reignited fan hopes, so much so that The Wolf Among Us 2 was among the first projects confirmed by the new management. However, since then, official information has been sparse, and the game has often been the subject of rumors suggesting its cancellation.
The trailer shown at the Summer Game Fest offers an updated look at the new investigation featuring Bigby Wolf. The plot will revolve around a series of particularly violent murders that seem to involve an unknown creature, once again calling the protagonist to shed light on the mystery. Although the footage does not delve into gameplay mechanics, it confirms the intent to maintain the noir and investigative atmosphere that contributed to the success of the original episode.
In recent years, development has undergone further changes. One of the most recent versions of the project had been developed in collaboration with AdHoc Studio, a company founded by some of the developers of the first The Wolf Among Us. However, in 2024 that same studio confirmed that it was no longer actively involved in the work. In the credits of the new trailer, Telltale Games and publisher PM Studios are instead listed, signaling a new production organization.
The indicated release window remains quite broad and has not been accompanied by a more precise date. Despite this, it is the first official timeline target communicated after years of delays and silence.
