RTX Spark Notebook, Will Few Be Able to Afford Them? Early Estimates Indicate Very High Prices
The new NVIDIA RTX Spark chips are set to enter the PC market this autumn, but the price factor could pose a significant obstacle to their mass adoption. In a context already marked by a memory crisis, the first available estimates do not bode well for the end users' wallets.
High Starting Prices?
A report by Morgan Stanley addresses the issue, outlining a scenario that is far from accessible. For the N1X variant, the starting price would be around $2,899—a figure that, when converted to euros, clearly exceeds the €3,000 threshold. The N1 version, while positioned in a lower tier, would still start at $1,799.

"Our checks with PC brands at this year’s Computex suggest AI PCs with N1X will need to price at US$2,899, while N1 models will be priced at US$1,799."

It is worth noting that these figures refer to base configurations: models with higher memory or more powerful components could reach significantly higher prices.
Challenges in the Consumer Segment
With such high pricing, penetrating the consumer market seems quite complex, especially considering the fierce competition that NVIDIA's chips will face from other PC SoC manufacturers like Qualcomm and AMD. Among the already confirmed OEM partners is Microsoft, which will integrate the new chips into its Surface Ultra.
What to Expect in the Coming Months
To have a complete picture, one must wait: the commercial launch is expected next autumn, and in the coming weeks, OEMs will begin to announce their positioning strategies. NVIDIA has yet to express itself, and much remains to be revealed.
A key element will also be the relationship between price and actual performance: only benchmarks on final systems will allow an evaluation of whether the required investment will be truly justified.
