70mai 4K A810 Lite Tested: Small as a Credit Card, but with the Quality of the Big Ones

With increasing traffic, increasingly distracted drivers, and roads that hold continuous surprises, it has become common practice for attentive drivers to keep a dashcam on their windshields. 70mai is one of the manufacturers that has managed to meet this need with solid and accessible products, earning a reference place in the industry over the last few years with over 2.3 million dashcams sold each year across more than 100 countries.

The model we have tested this time is the 70mai 4K A810 Lite, a product born with a precise ambition: to bring 4K quality and 4G connectivity into a format so compact that it disappears behind the rearview mirror.

4K + 1080p, Now a Certainty

The setup established by the company features a dual camera, with a frontal 4K and a rear module in 1080p via the included RC21 kit. The front records in 3840x2160P at 30 fps, with a field of view of 140 degrees and an aperture of f/1.55, sufficient to cover multiple lanes and clearly capture license plates and road signs. The rear operates in 1080P at 25 fps with a 130-degree angle.

The packaging includes the main camera, the RC21 module, a 64 GB microSD card, and the necessary wiring for installation. The adhesive mount keeps the camera in the correct position without obstructing the driver's field of view — its dimensions, 91 x 46 x 24.4 mm, are smaller than those of a standard credit card. The initial installation takes just a few minutes, and the discreet profile of the A810 Lite integrates into the cabin without drawing attention. As is customary with 70mai kits, there is also a small plastic tool included to help move the vehicle's trim, making the wiring invisible, especially considering the rear camera is connected with a cable that runs throughout the cabin.

4G Unlocks All Potential

One of the most significant features is the compatibility with the 4G Hardwire Kit (sold separately), which turns the dashcam into a constantly connected device, even when the vehicle is stationary. With this setup, it’s possible to monitor the vehicle in real-time, receive collision alerts, follow live routes, and locate the car with the pedestrian navigation function in crowded parking lots.

The connectivity also opens the door to remote live streaming, immediate alerts in case of bumps or suspicious movements, and GPS tracking even when the car is entrusted to others. All this is managed through the 70mai app, available on Android and iOS, which recognizes the device in seconds thanks to the integrated Wi-Fi 6. With transfer speeds of up to 25 MB/s, one minute of 4K video downloads to the smartphone in about 30 seconds.

Perfect Vision Even in the Dark

In terms of image quality, the A810 Lite performs well even in the most difficult conditions. The f/1.55 aperture maximizes light intake, and the hardware HDR directly works on the sensor to balance scenes with heavy backlighting, garages, and abrupt light-dark transitions.

For night use, 70mai has also implemented its 70mai Lumi Vision technology in this product, which is one of its most interesting specifications: a system designed specifically for parking surveillance in near-total darkness, capable of boosting sensitivity up to ISO 80,000 to make details such as vehicle license plates legible. Once the car is entered, the dashcam detects power and automatically starts the recording buffer without requiring any interaction.

During our testing, the 70mai A810 Lite confirmed what was expected from its specifications. The 4K resolution in the front helps maintain detail clarity even at a distance, and texts and numbers, crucial for reading plates in case of an accident, are easily identifiable. The download speed to the smartphone's gallery, using the Wi-Fi hotspot generated by the camera itself, is also extremely fast, and the entire album of recordings can be navigated by camera, front or rear, with individual clips well distinguished by their save time.

The rear module is a great aid, and the 1080p resolution is sufficient to read license plates when vehicles are close to our car, which unfortunately is often the typical situation during a fender bender. Moreover, the lens is connected to the body of the camera, which can rotate around the mounting point, allowing the framing angle to easily adapt regardless of the inclination of the rear window.

24/7 Monitored Parking

With the hardwire power kit installed, the A810 Lite continues to operate when the engine is off, thanks to the direct wiring with the vehicle's 12-volt power supply. The G-sensor constantly monitors for collisions: in the event of an impact, the camera automatically starts a 30-second recording and signals the event with a voice alert upon the next startup. The Buffered Emergency Recording feature captures up to 3 minutes or at least 10 seconds before impact and 30 seconds afterward, with an adjustable time window between 1 and 3 minutes. The functionality of the car is always ensured by the internal supercapacitor, capable of providing power even at extreme temperatures up to -40°C and 85°C, so leaving the car parked in harsh climates won't be a problem.

For extended parking, a time-lapse at 1 fps is available, compressing 15 minutes of recording into 1 minute, optimizing space on the card — the A810 Lite supports microSDs up to 512 GB, with dual-channel recording endurance of up to 24 continuous hours with the maximum card. Those who prefer not to physically interact with the dashcam can rely on voice control to take photos, start recordings, or manage audio.

The A810 Lite, like the latest more equipped 70mai models, can access the 4G Cloud+ plan, which offers a range of features allowing for greater remote interaction with the dashcam, as well as increased security, since videos recorded in emergency situations are also saved to the cloud, preventing loss. The free basic package is limited to 30 minutes per day of remote live footage, 15 GPS checks per month, and video storage for 7 days. Upgrading to the Standard level increases live view minutes to 60 per day, GPS checks to 30 times per month, and video storage to 15 days, plus access to the Geofence function. At the top level, Premium, remote streaming is unlimited, as are GPS checks, and video storage lasts for 30 days. The Standard subscription costs just $2.49 per month (about €2.10), while the Premium package costs $3.99 per month (€3.38). By opting for an annual subscription right away, a discount is available, with prices of $26.99 and $42.99 respectively (€22.86 and €36.42).

The test of the 70mai 4K A810 Lite confirms that compact dimensions and high performance are not necessarily contradictory. The 4K quality, advanced night vision, and parking surveillance make it a comprehensive tool, and 4G compatibility positions it in a higher category compared to many similarly priced dashcams.
