realme 16 5G: launch date of the new AI Portrait Master officially announced
realme has officially announced the upcoming release of the new realme 16 5G, nicknamed "AI Portrait Master" by the manufacturer. The global presentation of the device is set for next June 10, but technical details and aesthetic features of a terminal that aims to redefine the balance between battery life and portability have already been disclosed. The entire project revolves around the new Air Design philosophy, an engineering approach that aims to optimize internal spaces to integrate high-capacity batteries without compromising the overall thickness and ergonomics of the smartphone.
The declared specifications speak of a compact body measuring just 8.1 mm thick and a total weight of 181 grams. Unusual figures when contextualized to the presence of a 6550 mAh battery, an element that makes the realme 16 5G the lightest device in its market segment with equivalent energy capacity. To achieve this balance, designers developed the AirCraft internal structure, a solution that optimizes the density of hardware components and takes advantage of the properties of high-density energy graphite modules, gaining precious millimeters without sacrificing structural solidity. The body of the smartphone is also protected against water and dust infiltration thanks to the highest certification, IP69.
realme 16 coming to Italy: key features
The rear camera module breaks the classic stylistic patterns of the brand by adopting a horizontal bar similar to some of the latest generation flagships. This symmetrical configuration responds to precise functional logics: the distribution of weight along the horizontal axis reduces hand fatigue during extended gaming sessions or video playback, while the slight step in the structure serves as a stabilizer when the smartphone is placed on a flat surface, eliminating annoying wobbles. On a technical level, the main camera relies on a 50 MP sensor assisted by artificial intelligence algorithms for managing portraits and ambient lighting.
The true hardware feature is the integration of a rear selfie mirror directly into the camera bar. This is a mirrored surface that allows for framing and composition in real-time when using the 50 MP main sensor for self-portraits, enabling immediate adjustments to expressions and scene composition, taking advantage of the quality of the rear camera compared to the traditional front-facing selfie camera.
The design of the casing features two different surface treatments. The Air White variant introduces the Aurora Wings gradient texture, a technology that layers multicolored particles to blend shades of gold, blue, and chromatic reflections that change intensity depending on the angle of light. Those who prefer a more understated and minimalist approach can opt for the Air Black version, characterized by a fine sandblasted finish and a curved anti-smudge treatment designed to withstand daily wear and tear. For the official presentation and all details on price and availability, as already mentioned, we will have to wait until June 10.
