The Memory Crisis Halts Xiaomi Smartphones: -19.2% in Q1 2026
The memory crisis hits Xiaomi hard and impacts its smartphone market business. The confirmation comes from the company itself, which has confirmed a drastic decline in shipments during the first quarter of 2026. Here are all the details on the matter.
A Difficult Quarter
Xiaomi, while managing to maintain its third position in the smartphone market for the 23rd consecutive quarter, has to deal with a very complicated first quarter of 2026. In the first three months of the year, Xiaomi shipped 33.8 million smartphone units, a decrease of 19.2% compared to the same period last year.
The drop is significant, especially considering that the two market giants, Samsung and Apple, are experiencing growth of 8% and 9.9%, respectively, during the first quarter of the year. Xiaomi's results come after an excellent 2025 in terms of units sold.
The company has maintained a solid market position and is in the Top 3 in 47 markets worldwide and in the Top 5 in 65 markets. Despite the decline, Xiaomi continues to represent a benchmark in the industry.
Notably, there was an 8% increase in the Average Selling Price during the first quarter of 2026 compared to the data recorded last year. This indicator stands at just over 160 euros, considering the current exchange rate with the Chinese yuan.
Xiaomi is also ranked 3rd among smartband manufacturers (2nd place in China) and holds 2nd place in true wireless headphones. However, regarding the tablet segment, the company must face a significant decline (-13.6%) which drops it from 3rd to 5th place in the market.
As for the electric vehicle business, the company delivered over 80,000 zero-emission cars during the first quarter of the year.
