Lisuan LX 7G100: the Chinese GPU sells out in hours. Should NVIDIA and AMD be worried?
Lisuan Tech has reached a new milestone in the Chinese GPU market with its new LX 7G100, a graphics card that recorded over 30,000 pre-orders despite performance being far from the latest models from NVIDIA and AMD. The Chinese manufacturer has thus exceeded $14.55 million in advance sales thanks to a retail price set at $485 in China.
The result is particularly significant considering that Lisuan Tech represents an emerging player in the dedicated graphics card sector. The company has quickly made its way into the most visible brands on JD.com, one of the leading Chinese e-commerce platforms dedicated to electronics, where it now ranks sixth behind established names like Asus, Colorful, Gigabyte, and MSI.
The LX 7G100 is presented by the company as a rival to the GeForce RTX 4060. However, tests that have emerged in recent weeks show a different scenario: the GPU offers performance more akin to a GeForce RTX 3060, thus falling short of the company's expectations and two generations behind the latest GeForce RTX 5060.
Despite this aspect, the Chinese audience seems to have appreciated the presence of a domestic alternative to the major international manufacturers. The price of the LX 7G100 remains close to that of a GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, but the cost does not seem to have limited interest in the GPUs.
Lisuan Tech has also adopted a commercial strategy inspired by NVIDIA's Founders Edition models. The company launched a special version of the LX 7G100 called the Founders Edition, limited to only 1,000 numbered units personally signed by co-founder and co-CEO Xuan Yifang. The first batch sold out quickly, while a second distribution is scheduled for June 18.
This same date will also mark the debut of new GPUs in the LX family. The company will introduce the LX Pro, aimed at professional and engineering applications, along with the LX Ultra, designed for cloud computing scenarios. However, the future LX Max, intended for creators, still does not have a precise launch window.
It is worth noting that Lisuan Tech's ranks include seasoned figures from the GPU sector. The company was founded in 2021 by Xuan Yifang, Kong Dehai, and Niu Yixin, professionals who previously worked at S3 Graphics. Although their performance is still distant from the latest generations of North American competitors, the company has managed to create a competitive offering in just a few years, at least within the domestic market.
