Goodbye to the Historic NVIDIA Control Panel After 20 Years: GPU Management Moves to NVIDIA App
More than two years after the initial announcement, NVIDIA has completed the process of replacing the historic Control Panel on Windows with the latest NVIDIA App, officially marking the retirement of the control panel used by GeForce users for the past twenty years.
The company states that all "actively supported" features dedicated to GeForce users have now been transferred to the new unified application, which in recent months has gradually incorporated the capabilities of the previous control panel and GeForce Experience. The new platform allows users to manage driver updates, game configurations, advanced graphics settings, GPU tuning, overlays, and DLSS options from a single interface.
This transition has been awaited for some time. NVIDIA had already accelerated the migration throughout 2025 through several substantial updates to the NVIDIA App, introducing support for advanced 3D settings, multi-monitor configurations, Surround, Advanced Optimus controls, and offline access. With the latest update, the company considers the transition for the consumer GeForce segment complete.
According to NVIDIA, the "Graphics > Program Settings" section of the new application effectively replaces the historic "Manage 3D Settings" page found in the traditional Control Panel. The stated goal is to centralize all key functions into a single modern client that will become the reference point for future Game Ready and Studio driver installations.
However, the old NVIDIA Control Panel will not be immediately removed from existing systems. The application will continue to remain installed on users' PCs unless a "clean installation" of the drivers is executed. Furthermore, those who may still need it can download it from the Microsoft Store, although NVIDIA has specified that it will not receive any further features, fixes, or evolutionary updates.
The transition does not yet involve professional RTX PRO users. NVIDIA will continue to support the traditional Control Panel for this category until all professional functions are migrated to the new NVIDIA App.
In conjunction with the announcement, NVIDIA also released the new Game Ready driver 610.47, introduced alongside the launch of 007 First Light. The package also includes support for Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.
