Nordschleife Record for Electric Sedans: The Taycan Turbo GT with Manthey Kit Stops the Stopwatch at 6:55.533
Lars Kern completed a lap at the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6:55.533 minutes behind the wheel of the Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package equipped with the Manthey Kit. This marks a new absolute record time for production electric sedans. The time, certified by a notary present on the track and validated according to official Nürburgring protocols with TÜV Rheinland, is 12 seconds shorter than Kern's previous record from 2023 on the Weissach package variant without the kit.
A Manthey Kit That Touches Everything, Including Traction
The Manthey Kit for the Taycan Turbo GT is the first of its kind applied to an electric Porsche and the most comprehensive developed by Manthey, as it is the first time it also affects the powertrain. The optimizations to the high-voltage battery, control unit, and power inverters increase the maximum discharge current from 1,100 to 1,300 amperes, boosting the system power from 580 to 600 kW (804 hp). In Attack Mode, it rises to 730 kW (978 hp); while in Launch Control, the peak remains at 760 kW (1,019 hp). The kit was jointly developed by the Porsche Development Center in Weissach and Manthey engineers in Meuspath.
The most significant intervention concerns aerodynamics: at 200 km/h, the total vertical load triples, increasing from 95 to 310 kg. At the new maximum speed of 309 km/h (up from 304 km/h), the load reaches 740 kg. The package includes a new rear wing with extended flaps, an optimized front diffuser, a high-performance rear diffuser with extended fins, and aerodynamic deflectors underneath the body. Both the wing and front diffuser are adjustable to suit different track layouts. The forged 21-inch aluminum wheels are designed by Manthey: they are about 3.4 kg lighter than the standard ones despite the larger size, with titanium bolts. The tires are Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS in wider sizes, with an additional four centimeters on the front axle and three on the rear.
Regarding brakes and chassis, the front brake discs grow from 420 to 440 mm, while the rear reaches 410 mm, paired with performance pads. The driving dynamics system has also been reinterpreted to work in synergy with the new wheels and track tires. "You can feel the stability and confidence the car offers in fast sections and during braking," Kern stated. The concrete effect: in the 'Lauda-Lefthander' area before the 'Bergwerk', Kern took the corner almost 14 km/h faster than his record lap from 2023.
In terms of road certification, the kit is offered directly from the factory and will be available for already registered Taycan Turbo GT models with the Weissach package. Since its introduction, the Taycan Turbo GT has accumulated record after record; with this kit, Porsche raises the bar even higher. Availability is expected for August 2026, with differentiated wheel specifications between standard and Track configurations.
