Valve Imported Dozens of Tons of Consoles in Just 2 Days: What’s Behind It?
Valve may be close to launching new gaming hardware. According to import documents analyzed by The Verge, the company transferred about 50 tons of devices classified as "gaming consoles" to the United States within just two days between late April and early May.
This data adds to recent information shared by well-known Valve scene observer Brad Lynch, who had already reported an increase in shipments. The most credible hypothesis is that the containers do not simply contain new units of the Steam Deck, but rather novel devices, potentially Steam Machines or Steam Frames.
After a period of relative inactivity following the holidays of 2025, Valve's logistics seem to have regained momentum. In fact, nearly 100 tons of products have reportedly arrived in the United States over the last two months. Several cargo ships, including Ever Logic and Ever Shine, have transported a dozen standard 40-foot containers from China to ports such as Los Angeles and Tacoma.

However, analyzing the data reveals an interesting detail: the weight of recent shipments is lower than the typical weight observed in the past. Previously, each container contained up to 42 packages with a total weight of about 14,500 kilograms. However, some recent shipments show weights around 12,600 kilograms, while maintaining the same number of packages and container type.
This variation could indicate a change in the type of product being transported. Considering the declared weight of approximately 2.6 kilograms per unit of the Steam Machines, the estimated total of devices that arrived in the United States would be lower than 20,000 units, especially when considering potential bundles with accessories.
Despite these clues, it is not possible to completely rule out that these could still be Steam Deck or other products, and that the weight difference may be due to other logistical factors. Meanwhile, the new Steam Controller is already sold out at launch, signaling high public interest.
