The People's Choice Award at the Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards Goes to Alison Tuck and Her Frigatebird Photo
At the end of last year, the winners of the Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards 2025 were announced, with photographer Mark Meth Cohn taking the top prize for his photograph of a young gorilla performing a trick and seemingly "high-fiving" with its back foot. Recently, it was time to elect the winner of the People's Choice Award.
The public award is sponsored by STERNA (a project for artistic nature photography), and the image that captured people's hearts was titled "Now where is my nest?" taken by Alison Tuck. The subject is a frigatebird, a seabird with a large amount of seaweed on its beak, blown by the wind. The shot was taken on the cliffs of Bempton (in Yorkshire, United Kingdom).

This photograph was the most appreciated by the public, surpassing the other forty images competing for the People's Choice Award at the Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards. The photographer stated, "Winning the People's Choice Award means a lot to me. It was truly exciting to reach the finals with my frigatebird, and I was honored to receive a Highly Commended award. However, winning in this category is a whole different ballgame, and I am truly grateful to all the people who voted for me, not to mention how much fun I had—after all, this is the Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards!
"I love taking many photographs, especially of wildlife: from a tiny ant to a large elephant on land, from a small crab to an orca in the sea, or from a tiny hummingbird to a raptor flying in the sky. Each of them has a story to tell in the world, and for me, capturing these stories is something really special."
According to reports, Alison Tuck used a Nikon Z 8 to capture the image, expressing her satisfaction in using it for wildlife photography by saying, "It makes it so easy to capture moving animals."
