iPhone 20: the celebratory model could be priced significantly higher than the latest Pro models

Apple has plans for several novelties in the iPhone range. In the second half of 2026, the debut of iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max is expected, along with the iPhone Ultra, the first foldable model in the range. Also on the way are iPhone Air 2, iPhone 18, and iPhone 18e (which are expected to debut in early 2027).

In September of next year, it will be the turn of the iPhone 20, the model that Apple will launch to celebrate 20 years of its smartphone range and which is expected to introduce a new curved display design. The combination of various factors should lead to a substantial increase in the price of the iPhone 20 compared to the iPhone 18 Pro/Pro Max.

Will prices increase? For the new iPhone 20, the true heir to the iPhone X, Apple, according to the latest rumors, is expected to rely on a single supplier for the display, Samsung. The Korean company should be the only one capable of providing the four-sided curved display that Apple intends to use for its smartphone.

This choice will entail a substantial increase in the cost of the display, which will be added to the rising costs of DRAM, storage memory, and the chip manufactured by TSMC using a 2nm production process. By adding all these elements together, the Bill of Materials (BOM), that is, the total cost of the various components, will be significantly higher than the latest generations of iPhones. Naturally, it is still early for more in-depth assessments. However, the increasing rumors about the new iPhone 20 confirm that development has now entered a critical phase and the project is being finalized in anticipation of the planned debut in just over a year.
