Mad Catz has made available in Italy the updated version of its most iconic MMO mouse: a product that, after years of absence from the market, had become a cult item with skyrocketing prices in the second-hand market. It is now purchasable in Italy through selected retailers.

The most significant generational leap from the original is the introduction of 2.4GHz wireless connectivity with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery boasting a claimed autonomy of 40 hours; the wired mode remains available for those who prefer fixed latency. The mouse is based on the PixArt PAW3395 optical sensor with a maximum DPI of 26,000, a tracking speed of 650 IPS, acceleration of 50G, and a polling rate of 1000Hz. The main left and right buttons feature Kailh mechanical switches certified for 80 million presses. The weight is 140g with dimensions of 120 × 90 × 40 mm, featuring an ergonomic shape exclusively for right-handed users.

The most distinctive aspect of this mouse is the layout, which includes a total of 22 buttons, of which 21 are fully programmable. The 5D button allows multidirectional inputs from a single physical position to reduce hand movement in high-command density gaming contexts. The Shift Mode also instantly doubles the available commands (21 × 2) and combines with 5 onboard profiles saved directly in the firmware: the mouse retains the configurations even on systems without installed drivers, useful for multi-station setups or tournaments. The horizontal scroll wheel completes the picture for quick inventory management.

Those playing titles like World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy XIV, or Elder Scrolls Online will find this layout addresses the issue of managing keyboard abilities. Also important is the proprietary software Mad Catz All-in-One, which covers macro editing, key remapping, RGB lighting customization, and DPI preset adjustment (up to 4 selectable DPI profiles on the fly). Configurations are stored in the mouse and are available immediately upon connection, without reliance on external drivers.

As with the original model, the M.M.O. 7+ features a palm rest adjustable in four positions and a thumb rest that shifts laterally and in depth using the included tool, catering to hands of different sizes. The body is made of reinforced engineering plastic, a choice that differentiates the M.M.O. 7+ from the R.A.T. line models (which use metal components) and helps keep the weight at 140g despite the generous size and the high number of buttons. The modular components have been redesigned compared to the original for greater structural robustness over time.

After the original M.M.O. 7 disappeared from the market (and the bankruptcy of Mad Catz in 2017, which was later acquired and relaunched), used specimens had become rare and expensive on second-hand platforms. Mad Catz had already hinted at the return at CES 2024, then solidified the global launch in the early months of 2026.
