Logitech G512 X: the gaming keyboard with interchangeable analog and mechanical switches, key by key
Logitech G announces the G512 X, the brand's first gaming keyboard based on Tunnel Magneto Resistance (TMR) technology with native support for analog and mechanical switches in a single chassis. Available from May 2, 2026, in 75% and 98% variants, prices start from €189.99.
Dual Swap: Analog and Mechanical on the Same PCB
The standout technical feature is the Dual Swap technology: the 39 hybrid TMR slots of the G512 X can accommodate either magnetic analog switches or standard 3 and 5 pin mechanical switches. The package includes 9 Gateron KS-20 analog switches, designed for the WASD and adjacent keys, but the remaining slots accept any other switch, such as Cherry MX Blues, Gazzew Boba U4T, or any other market option. This approach removes the binary choice between analog performance and mechanical feel: you get both, configurable key by key.
The TMR sensors do not just detect simple on/off states but measure the exact position of the switch along its entire travel. This precision is the foundation for features like Rapid Trigger, Snap Tap, and multipoint actuation. The True 8K polling rate guarantees an end-to-end latency of 0.125 ms, with both reporting and processing frequency at 8,000 Hz, a specification that aligns the G512 X with more advanced Hall Effect keyboards already on the market.
SAPP Rings and Dual Activation Point
The SAPP (Second Actuation Pressure Point) ring system adds a physical tactile feedback directly between the switch and keycap. Through G HUB, two distinct actions can be defined for the same key, activated at different pressure depths, and the ring physically signals the transition to the second actuation point without looking at the screen. In a shooter, partial pressure on the Ctrl key equips a grenade, while full pressure throws it: one key, two inputs. The package includes 5 SAPP rings, stored in a dedicated slot on the back of the keyboard along with the 9 Gateron KS-20 and keycap and switch pullers.
Regarding construction, the G512 X features a gasket-mounted structure, with PBT keycaps, 4 mm travel, and adjustable height between 4 and 8 degrees via removable feet that also serve as pullers. There is a scan key on the back to quickly check which slots host analog switches. The construction uses 37% recycled PCR plastics; the weight is about 862 g for the 75% variant and about 1 kg for the 98%. The 39 slots compatible with analog switches are placed on the left side of the keyboard, which may limit left-handed users, as they cannot reassign the keys on the right half.
The aesthetics feature an RGB light bar with PVD coating and crosshatched patterns, along with per-key backlighting for supporting switches. The design is available in black or white and is paired with the G502 X Plus LIGHTSPEED mouse and G522 LIGHTSPEED headphones. Two programmable hardware knobs also complete the customizable controls. The acrylic wrist rest is sold separately for €39.99 for the 75% variant and €49.99 for the 98%.
