Parents Will Be Able to Check the Topics Addressed by Their Children Using Meta's AI
The use of AI chatbots by minors is a hot topic today and is destined to become increasingly significant in the future. Meta, which aims to become a sector reference with Meta AI, is adopting a series of measures to ensure that teenagers can safely exploit chatbots.
A New Tool for Parents
In particular, the company intends to inform parents about how chatbots are being used. This is a system aimed at ensuring parental control without delving into the specifics of conversations. As the company emphasizes:
“Parents will be able to see the topics their teenage children have asked Meta AI about over the past week. The topics can range from school, entertainment, and lifestyle to travel, writing, health and wellness, and many others.”
This system will be active for parents who have linked their account with that of their teenage children, who will only be able to access Meta AI and various Meta apps in compliance with local age regulations.
In these cases, Meta will provide a Insights tab within the section dedicated to monitoring the child's account, where it will be possible to check the topics addressed, with systems of categories and subcategories and also with tips on how to discuss certain topics with their children.
This new system is part of a series of more structured initiatives through which Meta aims to facilitate access to social media for younger users, starting with the introduction of accounts for teenagers that has already taken place some time ago. In the future, the company will continue to develop this line of innovations, with increasingly advanced tools to assist parents and teenagers.
