The Crisis of Memories Won't Halt Innovations for Samsung's Smartphone Range

The Korean company is almost ready to introduce the first smartphones with UFS 5.0 memories to the market. The new generation modules are expected to debut with the Galaxy S27 series arriving in early 2027. However, the new UFS 5.0 will be reserved only for some variants of the new flagship family from the Korean company.

The First Galaxies with UFS 5.0

The Galaxy S27 series, as hinted by previous rumors, will consist of four variants. Coming soon are the Galaxy S27 and S27+, as well as the Galaxy S27 Ultra and the new Galaxy S27 Pro (very similar to the Ultra version but without the S-Pen).

According to initial rumors, the UFS 5.0 memories are expected to be an exclusive for the Pro and Ultra versions, the most expensive and complete. For the base model and the Plus version, Samsung will continue to use UFS 4.0 memories, at least according to the latest rumors. This scenario is in line with the company's decisions in recent years. The Ultra model occupies a higher tier compared to the base and Plus versions.

Let’s remember that the UFS 5.0 standard, announced last November, will ensure a substantial increase in performance, with a maximum speed of 10.8 Gbps compared to the 5.8 Gbps of the previous generation. The leap forward will be particularly notable for activities such as AI functionalities that require fast memories.
