The final trailer for Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is now online, the first cinematic film in the saga dedicated to Din Djarin and the beloved little green alien from George Lucas' universe. The release in Italian theaters is set for May 20, 2026, with pre-sales opening today, April 17 at 4:00 PM, already available in many popular cinemas including the Arcadia in Melzo.
The final trailer in Italian
The trailer focuses on the element that made the TV series a phenomenon: the bond between Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu. The little one of Yoda's species, endowed with a deep connection to the Force, is at the center of the story not only as a character to protect but as a protagonist in full evolution. The direction is still by Jon Favreau, with music by Ludwig Göransson, who created the memorable original theme of The Mandalorian. The showcased material is well-crafted and fully returns the atmospheres of the far, far away galaxy, with hopes that the final version in theaters will reserve some surprises beyond what has already been seen.
With the Empire now dissolved after the Battle of Endor, its warlords are scattered across the galaxy and represent a widespread and destabilizing threat. The New Republic entrusts the Mandalorian with a high-risk mission to neutralize them, dragging him along with Grogu into a new cycle of adventures on the fringes of galactic law. Among the confirmed antagonists are Rotta the Hutt, son of Jabba, and the dangerous bounty hunter Embo. The cast also includes Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White, in the roles of a New Republic officer and Rotta, the latter only in terms of voice.
The film fits into the Era of the New Republic, roughly placed around 9-13 ABY, about five years after the events of Return of the Jedi and more than twenty years before The Force Awakens. It is a crucial moment for the galaxy: the Republic is trying to consolidate itself while the imperial remnants are reorganizing, and the seed of this will later become the Shadow Council already seen in The Mandalorian and then the First Order. For lore enthusiasts, this is precisely the most interesting narrative knot: as also demonstrated by Andor with its tight geopolitical storytelling, this historical period of the Star Wars universe still has much to say, and one hopes that the film does not limit itself to episodic adventure but connects to the macro-events that will lead to the fall of the New Republic.
