Netflix Looks to the Future: Higher Prices, Advertising, and Live Events to Boost Revenues
Netflix has entered a new phase. The failure to acquire Warner Bros is pushing the streaming platform to rethink its future, exploring new growth opportunities. A new report confirms and anticipates the upcoming moves of the company, which in Italy must deal with the issue of illegitimate price increases that could lead to reimbursements for users.
A New Strategy
Netflix is facing new challenges and, above all, a fierce new competitor that will emerge from the merger between Warner Bros and Paramount Skydance (if the acquisition procedure succeeds). After having raised prices in the U.S., the platform is expected to soon increase prices in other markets as well. A price hike in Italy during 2026 is therefore likely, with potential increases of 1-2 euros per month for each plan currently available.
This choice could make the advertising plan even more important, which is set to become a strategically significant element.
For the future, Netflix aims to increase advertising revenues, leveraging the basic plan with included ads as well as new live events that can attract advertisers' attention. Among these events, there could be space for concerts like the one broadcast in March featuring the Korean group BTS, which attracted over 18 million viewers worldwide.
Thus, advertising and live events could represent Netflix's near future, as it navigates an increasingly rich market of options and growing competition.
