Apple Intelligence Enters a New Era: Leadership Change Ahead of 'New' Siri
Apple Intelligence
enters a
new era. After facing significant challenges in developing advanced features and reaching an agreement for the use of Google's Gemini models, Apple is undergoing a management reshuffle ahead of the launch of the new version of Siri.
A New Era?
Starting today, in fact, John Giannandrea is stepping down from his position as head of Apple's artificial intelligence division. His departure had already been announced in previous months, with Giannandrea having served as an advisor in recent times.
The new structure now includes a Vice President for AI, Amar Subramanya, who will report directly to Craig Federighi, senior vice president of software engineering. Subramanya worked for 16 years at Google, also dealing with Gemini, before briefly moving to Microsoft and eventually joining the Cupertino company.
With the leadership change completed, Apple can move forward with the debut of the new version of Siri. This is a very delicate phase for the company, which has encountered considerable difficulties in developing AI features capable of competing with rivals. In a statement last December, which officially announced the management change, Apple emphasized: "this moment marks the beginning of a new, exciting chapter, which will see Apple strengthen its commitment to shaping the future of AI for users around the world."
