Apple Could Become the Third Largest Producer of Foldable Smartphones with the New Fold

The new iPhone Fold, which is expected to be called iPhone Ultra according to recent rumors, will allow Apple to become one of the leading brands in the foldable smartphone sector. Confirmation comes from a study by TrendForce that estimates the impact of the Cupertino company's smartphone on the foldable market. Despite an extremely high price, Apple's new model could carve out a leading role for itself.

A Very Positive Launch

According to the analysis, the iPhone Fold is expected to reach approximately 19.3% market share among foldables, positioning Apple as the third market player, behind Samsung (30.1%) and Huawei (29.3%). Apple is set to drastically reduce the market shares of Samsung and Huawei, which could lose 7-8 percentage points by 2025.

The results of the new iPhone Fold are expected to come despite the very high price of the smartphone. The foldable from the Korean company is anticipated to cost more than a 2TB iPhone 17 Pro Max, becoming the new flagship in Apple's smartphone lineup. In Europe, the base version price could thus range from 2,500 to 3,000 euros.

The launch period still needs confirmation. Apple's model is expected to debut as early as September during the traditional summer event that will also introduce the new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. There is also the possibility of a delayed launch by a few weeks or less, but still before the end of 2026. In this second scenario, the impact on sales for the current year could be more limited.
