YouTube Premium Will Cost More in Some Countries: Does Google Want to Monetize More?

There's not just more advertising in YouTube's future: Google is indeed starting to increase the prices of YouTube Premium, the subscription plan that users can turn to for ad-free access to the platform (and several other benefits). For now, the price increase does not concern Italy.

Up to $4 More

The new pricing list for YouTube Premium is as follows:

  • The Lite plan (which does not include ad-free YouTube Music) and the Student plan increase from $7.99 to $8.99 with a monthly increase of $1
  • The Individual plan increases from $13.99 to $15.99 with a monthly increase of $2
  • The Family plan increases from $22.99 to $26.99 with a monthly increase of $4
The last price update in the United States happened in 2022 (except for the Lite plan, which launched just over a year ago).
For now, YouTube Premium in Italy continues to maintain stable prices, with the Lite plan costing €7.99 per month, the Student plan at €8.99 per month, the Individual plan at €13.99 per month, and the Family plan at €25.99 per month.
The price increase is not a surprise, especially considering the platform's recent developments, which have significantly increased the presence of advertising in the free plan. For users, the alternative to a service with so much advertising is the Premium subscription, which, however, with a cost of $1-4 per month is becoming increasingly burdensome.
