YouTube Invests in AI: Users Will Be Able to Create Avatars for Shorts

YouTube's Shorts will soon be flooded with new content created by artificial intelligence. Google is indeed aiming to fully leverage its AI platform, Google Vids, which allows users to generate AI Avatars starting from a selfie video. This is a novelty that complements a substantial increase in advertising on the platform.

More AI for YouTube

The system is simple: users can record a short selfie video by following the provided instructions. This video will then be used as a starting "base" to create the Avatars. In this way, users can use artificial intelligence to create short videos featuring themselves as the subject. These videos can have a maximum duration of 8 seconds.

It will be up to users to find the right way to utilize this new feature. AI Avatars can only be integrated into original content created by the user and can be deleted at any time (after 3 years of inactivity, they will be automatically deleted).

To ensure maximum transparency, Shorts featuring AI-created avatars will include a clearly visible label that will serve to "certify" the use of AI tools in content creation. Tracking systems such as SynthID and C2PA will also be included.

To use the AI Avatars, users must be of legal age and have an active YouTube channel. The launch of this feature is expected to be global, so it will also be available in Italy. Further details regarding the availability of this new feature should arrive in the coming days.
